Student Notices - Jun. 16, 2023

We would like to begin by acknowledging and thanking the First Peoples of the Hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ language groups on whose traditional and unceded territories we teach, learn and live.

Hey Cambie, SHARE here with an important message! June is Pride and Indigenous Heritage Month. Here is your daily fact: A Potlach is a cultural and economic ceremony for many Western Indigenous groups. Through this ceremony, wealth is shared and disturbed to establish social and economic power in this ceremony. Fishing and hunting territories are established, and it maintained community solidary and relationships. Potlach were commonly held during marriages, births, and funerals.

Attention Cambie students, yes you, sitting in that desk. Next week starting Monday, June 19th, is our last spirit week before summer vacation. Here are your final spirit day themes:

Monday is Mix-up Monday! Wear shorts over jeans, wear a tank top over a button down, throwback to the pandemic with half formal half casual.

Tuesday is tropical Tuesday! Wear those Hawiian shirts that we all know you won’t be wearing anytime soon and a matching pair of shades.

Wednesday is reserved for Indigenous Heritage Day to honour and celebrate the history of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit across Canada.

Thursday is dress as your type Thursday! Do you like athletes? Wear a jersey or sports gear, into nerds, come to school with glasses and a pile of books!
