Rec Leadership Application
Recreation Leadership 11 and Recreation Leadership 12 are courses designed to provide highly motivated students with an opportunity to enhance their leadership and organizational skills while working in partnership with the Athletics Program (Rec 11) and working on independent projects and fundraising initiatives (Rec 12).
Students will explore leadership skills and strategies in a collaborative setting and they will be given practical opportunities to develop, apply and enhance these skills. Students may also gain knowledge in coaching and officiating which will prepare them to assume roles as sport coaches and sport officials for our school teams. Students will also have the opportunity to act as coordinators of a number of events and activities that occur in our school. This will require students to have a high degree of self-motivation as a great deal of the course work will be in self-directed activities. Volunteer hours in the school will be required.
Field trips will be planned and coordinated to provide class participants with opportunities to experience new, varied and exciting leisure activities. Students will also participate in a leadership camp just prior to the beginning of the school year.
