Student Announcements - January 30, 2026

Attention Grads! Please note that the deadline for submitting baby photos and Grad write-ups is Feb 23rd.   Please use the link in your email for this reminder to submit your photo and grad write up.

Attention students! Hot breakfast burritos will be served at recess in the food’s room.

The Pascal, Cayley, and Fermat Math contests from the University of Waterloo will be happening soon. These competitions are a great chance to test out your mathematical skills and see things from a new perspective. Students in grades 8-11 who are interested in participating should talk to their math teacher or see Mr Hamm in C201 to sign up by the end of January.

Badminton season is almost here! Interested in joining the badminton team? Head over to the PE office and sign up today!

Movie Night is coming! Pathways Grade 9 is showing Space Jam on February 5 to help support our Strathcona trip.  Doors open at 6:00 PM, movie starts at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $4 with pre-order on School Cash Online or $4.50 at the door — popcorn included!

 

The Hamilton Community Association Youth Award is now open for applications for students who live in the Hamilton community. This $1,000 scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated strong academic effort, leadership, and meaningful involvement in their school or the Hamilton community. The application deadline is March 15, 2024. For more details, please see the Career Advisor.

 

Hey Cambie! Grad Council is doing a Krispy Kreme Fundraiser to support the grade class! You can pre-order a dozen for $15 on School Cash Online until Today, January 30th. Pick up will be on February 6th where we’ll also have singles for $2.50 and extra dozens for $15 available to buy on the day. These sell out fast and aren’t guaranteed, so pre-order online to secure your box!

Come join the Riot! The Reading Riot has started, and you can join! Come to the Library and pick out a book and get started! There are weekly prizes and a celebration at the end! Don't Miss out on the Reading Riot!!!

For all grade 10 and 11 students and families, the district Career Programs Office is hosting several information sessions for our post-secondary dual credit programs.  These will be held in the evening on Zoom or Teams starting this week.  Meet the post-secondary instructors too.  Access codes for these dual credit sessions were emailed to you and your family last week.  Check your spam.  Info nights will cover programs in:

  • Biomedical and Health Science
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Trades Training
  • Medical Lab Assistant and Health Care Assistant ...

...and our district Manufacturing & Engineering co-op program. The poster with passcodes is also on the Career Programs slat board in or near the counselling office.  Hope you can make it!

“If music be the food of love, play on!” Cambie Theatre presents Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. Love! Disguise! Mistaken identity! Tonight at 7pm is the last day of our production. Tickets are on sale in the rotunda at lunch for only $10. Most wonderful!

 

Here’s an announcement from the Cambie Community Centre: Are you looking for a fun place to hang out with your friends? Maybe meet new people? Or do fun activities? Well, every Friday from 6-8:30pm at Cambie Community Centre feel welcome to attend their late Volleyball, or Basketball drop in. Only a Valid Active Pass is required, and everyone is welcome! 16+ are encouraged to stay longer for the late LATE-night sport drop in from 9:00 – 11:30pm. Government ID and a fee of $3.30 is required. Or you can check out Cambie’s Friday Night hangout offered in the games room from 6:00 – 9:00pm also free with a valid active pass.
