Student Notices - May 23, 2023

We would like to begin by acknowledging and thanking the First Peoples of the Hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ language groups on whose traditional and unceded territories we teach, learn and live.

 

Hey Cambie! May is Asian History Month. Did you know Traditional Thai dancing is a combination of extravagant costumes and graceful body movements? There are 6 versions of Thai dancing, ram wong, the khon, lakhon lek, shadow puppetry and lakhon. Each have their own uniqueness to them. 

 

Attention Coyotes! If you plated any sports this year, it’s you time to celebrate at the athletic banquet. Tickets are available at lunch this entire week to all students in the rotunda. If you were an athlete, admission is free! Just don’t forget to sign up. Thank you!

 

For students who are interested in obtaining a FOODSAFE level 1 certificate, there is a mandatory meeting on June 1st, Thursday, at lunch in room D148 (Textiles Room). Students must bring a $45 cheque on the day to sign up.  This is your only chance to sign up.  FOODSAFE sessions will be held on June 26th & 27th from 9am-1pm.  Please see Ms. Chen if you have any questions.

Attention Cambie! It’s your Senator B Lo from Student Council. Today’s the big day! Student Council will be asking for your votes to decide Cambie’s 2023/2024 Executive team! Block A Teachers: please pick up the ballots from your mailbox and show your students the Student Campaign Videos posted on Teams so that everyone can view our magnificent candidates. After watching the videos, distribute the ballots and we will come pick them up later in the block. For Grade 11 students with a study block during Block A, please see Mme Masaki to vote. Hey- hey- hey- coyotes, today in the rotunda at 3:30 pm is the first skills clinic for the cheer team. See you all there!

Hey grads! Don’t forget to buy tickets for dinner dance AND dry grad - which are two very special and exciting events of our whole senior year! Just a reminder that the price for the tickets to dry grad have been LOWERED to $50 and you can pay for them through SchoolCashOnline, so hurry because you don't want to miss out!!

Hi Cambie, the valedictory ceremony at UBC Chan centre is on Friday, June 9th. Many grade 12 students have not yet purchased the tickets to attend the ceremony. The purchase includes a gown, cap, plus 2 entrance tickets. The deadline to purchase tickets is Friday, June 2nd. Please use your schoolcashonline or see Ms. Mundie.

Hey grade 11s! Are you interested in creating a memorable senior year for you and your friends? If so, you should apply for the 2023-2024 Grad Council! A few of our current members will be going around to your classrooms on Wednesday during A block to tell you more about it. You can also find the application and additional info on our Instagram @cambiegrad2023.

 

Congratulations to the senior boy’s rugby team for their impressive 27-22 victory over Clayton Heights last Thursday. With the victory the team has qualified for the Provincial Championships; the first time in over 20 years!

Attention all members of next year’s Rec Leadership class, if you have not yet picked up your forms for camp yet, please see Mr. Meier as soon as possible.
