Hey Cambie! It’s Wellness Wednesday and this week is also mental illness awareness week. For the rest of the week, we will be sharing a brief announcement on mental health because there is no health without mental health! One way to increase mental health is leaning to manage anxiety and stress. Everyone experiences anxiety at times. You might feel anxious when faced with a problem at school, before taking a test, or before making an important decision. It is a normal part of our body’s alarm system. However, anxiety becomes a problem when it stops us from doing the things that we used to be able to do and enjoyed. One way to manage anxiety, is to identify what causes you anxiety. Whether it is a due date, or a person, it may take some time to figure out what is making you anxious. Some causes and triggers can be:
- Drinking too much caffeine
- Partaking in drugs and drinking alcohol
- Stressful work environment
- Unexpected surprises or uncertainty
- Phobias such as fear of spiders
