Pathways Program

The Pathways enrichment leadership program is offered to students in Grade 8, 9 and 10.  This program offers an integrated unit of study that combines theme-based, enriched academic courses in English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science and Physical and Health Education.  The pillars of the Pathways Program are leadership development, social responsibility, and academic excellence.  Students continue to select their preferred elective course.

Students in the Pathways Program are scheduled together for these four courses:

  • English Language Arts
  • Social Studies
  • Science
  • Physical and Health Education

Aside from these enriched courses, the Pathways program offers:

  • Field Trips
  • Leadership in the Community
  • Outdoor Education

This integrated program is focused on creating a challenging and enriched learning environment while developing the skills needed to become the strong, upstanding leaders of the future which include creativity, initiative, confidence, innovation, adaptability, effective communication skills, resilience, and an understanding of the importance of giving back to your community form the foundation of this program.  The Pathways Program follows this format through to Grade 10, followed by opportunities to pursue additional advanced placement (AP), enriched and honors courses in grades 11 and 12.

The Pathways Program promotes a focus on leadership skills through the integration of thematic units of study, cross-curricular connections, field trips and community service. The world is changing, and the needs of our students are changing with it. Increasingly, universities (and employers) are looking for candidates that offer more than just a stellar academic record – they are looking for confident, creative and vibrant individuals who understand the need for we as opposed to me. The Pathways Program is an ideal start for tomorrow’s leaders.

The Pathways Program promotes a focus on leadership skills through the integration of thematic units of study, cross-curricular connections, enrichment activities and field trips (including annual overnight field trips when permitted under health and safety guidelines), and community service. Parents should be aware that some of these activities may have field trip costs associated with them. For the 2023-2024 school year, there will be a program fee (TBD and shared at the Pathways Information Meeting January 17th) charged in advance.
